Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The Class Act Awards were held at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery yesterday. These annual awards recognise and celebrate young leaders and are presented to the recipients by Prime Minister John Key. Congratulations to Ihlara McIndoe and Aleisha Ruske who are our 2015 recipients.
Stars on Stage also took place this week, with our girls performing on Tuesday. The Year 10 Performing Arts class were responsible for producing the Year 7 and 8 item from start (conceptualisation) to finish (polished product). Producing this performance gave the Year 10 students insight about career pathways in this field and involved hours of preparation. The premise was: In 2020 there is a new app that allows you to travel through time. Two friends decide to visit famous musicians such as Michael Jackson and Marilyn Monroe, however they click ‘agree to the terms and conditions’ too quickly. If they had read the fine print they would have read the warning – that overuse can lead to a malfunction! We are particularly proud of the way our performance was student driven and inclusive. The students thoroughly enjoyed being a part of a non-competitive celebration of the Arts in a professional environment.
A reminder that nominations for the Board of Trustees Student Elections close next Thursday at noon.
A reminder that nominations close for Service Awards and Cultural Blues on September 4 and September 21 respectively.
Good luck to all students involved in Winter Tournament next week.
St Hilda’s is currently conducting a review and is inviting parents who have either their daughter enrolled here in 2015, or their daughter enrolled for 2016, to participate in an online survey.
The research has been designed to help us understand more about the range of expectations parents have for their daughter’s education and what matters most to you about St Hilda’s Collegiate.
We want to know more about how effectively we present ourselves to our community and how we are perceived.
We have contracted a local Dunedin researcher, Jill Caldwell, to conduct this research on our behalf. Jill is an experienced researcher who specialises in social and market research.
The research will take place in the next two weeks. A link to the survey will be emailed to you in the next week. The survey itself will be anonymous and your data will not be held by the School.
Your input is a valuable component of our strategic planning and we look forward to receiving your feedback.
To meet the requirements of our senior students’ preparation for NCEA assessment we are holding separate senior and junior interviews.
