Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Term 2 has begun well with beautiful weather, successful Learning Conversations, and a fantastic open morning for prospective boarding families. The students and staff are all ready for an excellent term, focused on learning opportunities, across all aspects of the curriculum.

Being ready for learning in the morning, well prepared and mentally ready to engage in the class is important for our students. We would like to encourage the prompt arrival at school of all students first thing in the morning.  There is an expectation that students will be onsite by 8.35am and seated in class ready to begin their learning day at 8.40am.  We understand the occasional family glitch can happen and that some buses arrive after 8.40am.  Thank you for your cooperation with this.

During 2015 the School of Physical Education at the University of Otago conducted a survey called BEATS, in which they investigated the modes of transport students used to get to and from school.  The survey also included questions on attitudes and barriers to more active means of transport to school.  The final phase of this survey is to get some more parental feedback.  If you are interested in completing a survey, please click on the following here for more information.

As previously mentioned, on Thursday we welcomed prospective boarder families to school and Tolcarne.  The guests were welcomed by the Kapa Haka group and enjoyed performances by Sings Hilda and Like a Kid.  It was lovely to see familiar faces from Country Visits as well as some new faces.  Any nerves were soon put at ease by the friendly Year 13 students who showed them around the school. There was an energetic buzz at Tolcarne and the Year 13 girls were excellent hosts.
