Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Term Three is drawing to a close and we certainly have plenty happening next week to end the term on.
A reminder that Learning Conversations between teachers, parents and students will be held on Tuesday 20 September from 6.00pm – 9.00pm and on Friday 23 September from 9.00am – 3.00pm. On Friday 23 September there are no formal classes scheduled so, apart from the Learning Conversations, your daughters are not required to be at school for classes that day. They are also not expected to wear uniform to the Learning Conversations.
The interview site for bookings will close on Tuesday 20 September at 12.00pm. It will re-open for further bookings on Wednesday 21 September at 9.00am before closing at 3.00pm on Thursday 22 September. Please visit https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/ and enter the code jrpdp to make your bookings.
Please note that Mr Pacey is unavailable for the Learning Conversations and Mr Grant and Miss Allott are unavailable for the Friday session.
Parents are welcome to attend our repeat seminar ‘Helping Your Daughter to Navigate in the 21st Century’. We have changed the venue from the library to the school chapel and this is taking place at 7.00pm on Thursday September 22. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP if you haven’t done so already.
On Monday we are holding our end of term Eucharist Service. Instead of collecting the usual foodbank items, we ask that students come to school on Monday in mufti and donate $3, the proceeds of which will go to Anglican Family Care. Students do have the option of wearing a hat (not beanies or caps, rather the likes of which would be suitable to wear in church) and if they do so the mufti day will only cost $2.
We are finalising our Blues recipients and hope to notify all students on Tuesday. A reminder that the nomination site will reopen for those late dance entries. Parents will be notified when this happens.
The nomination form for the one year Service Award has now opened and the information has been sent to students. Students can log in and access the form here. These awards will be presented at a school assembly on 18 October.
Sports and Cultural photos are being taken on Wednesday. Students have been emailed notifying them of the uniform requirements for the photos.
On Sunday we welcome students from our sister school, Global Public School, in India. We have 11 students who will be joining us for the week and staying with homestay families. The International Department have organised an itinerary where they get to spend time in school as well as see Dunedin’s sights onboard the Monarch and Taieri Gorge Railway, not forgetting a tour of Cadburys!
The NZCAF Hip Hop and Aerobic National Competition is being held this weekend in Dunedin. Good luck to all involved.
Cecilia Crooks, Jessica Scott, Mackenzie Baines and Natalie Hutchens travelled to Wellington last Thursday to compete in the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Swimming Championships.
All four girls swam extremely well with 12 out of the 36 swims being new personal best times. Outstanding performances included silver medals for Cecilia (15-year old age group) in the 200m and 400m Freestyle and Jessica (14-year old age group), in the 50m Butterfly, 200m Butterfly and 100m Butterfly. Jessica also won bronze in the 200m Individual Medley.
At the Rugby 7s final this week the Junior As played off for 5th, leading until the last minute where they lost to South Otago High School 22 – 19. The Senior As played out of their skin in the semi-final but lost to South Otago High School in the Final and the Senior Bs rounded out their season in 3rd place.
We are hosting an event by the American Consulate on education opportunities and application processes for study and scholarship in the USA. This is a free event for interested students, families an coaches, however, you must register via the link here.
