Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It feels like just last week we were welcoming students back for the beginning of Term 2. Yesterday in Chapel Dr Townsley was pleased to be able to present Anglican Family Care with a cheque for $4500, the amount our whanaungatanga groups have managed to fundraise during the $5 challenge. This is an incredible effort and the girls can be extremely proud of themselves.
Good luck to students involved over the next few days in the South Island Secondary Schools’ Swimming Championships, the South Island Secondary Schools’ Netball Tournament and the Rugby Tournament in Oamaru.
We wish Laura Simpson and Alice Murphy all the best for their trip to Shanghai and Madeleine Whittaker for her time at the London International Science Youth Forum at the beginning of Term 3.
Open Evening – Thursday 27 July 2017
A letter was sent out recently to all parents informing them of the timeline for this year’s Open Evening. To ensure the girls do not get too tired and to enable staff to prepare, school will finish at 1.00pm on Thursday 27 July. If you wish your daughter to be supervised at school in the library for the afternoon, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the evening, students are required at school for the following times:
6:15 pm Prefects
6:30 pm Guides (Year 13)
7:00 pm All students to class venues
9:00 pm Year 7 – 13 students dismissed
9:10 pm Buses leave for Tolcarne
There will be a delayed start to school on the morning of Friday 28 July, with school beginning with Period 2 at 9.45am. It is important that all students arrive at school ready for a prompt start. If for some reason your daughter needs to be excused from Open Evening, please email email@example.com.

On Sunday a few girls had a fun afternoon at Chingford Park orienteering. The girls learnt how to read and orientate themselves to a map and problem solve to find the markers through some pretty muddy terrain.
We farewelled Zina, our French Year 12 international student, and Lisa, our German gap student, this week. Tolcarne will miss Zina’s smiley face in the office and Lisa who was our constant supporter and helper at Tolcarne, especially with the juniors.
The boarders are all looking forward to some quiet time during the holidays to re-energise for their busy Term 3.
