Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We hope you enjoyed the long weekend. The week has certainly gone quickly with the holiday on Monday and athletics on Tuesday. The girls had a great time and although the weather didn’t perform for the whole day, we managed to complete all of the events. Results are published below.
Year 9 students leave for camp next week. Their week starts with an ‘urban day’ on Monday where the girls complete activities around the city that are linked to their inquiry projects. The independent learning programme they have been involved in, for the last two weeks, has enabled them to further develop their skills and competencies while working collaboratively. It has been a very successful and engaging programme and a great way to introduce them to St HIlda’s and the opportunities for individual passions and interests to be followed. The girls depart for River Ridge Retreat on Tuesday. We wish students and staff well for the week.
The PFA will be meeting on Tuesday at 7.00pm in the staff room. The planning for the Fair is well underway, and we are lucky to have such an enthusiastic and hard working group of parents involved. They could always do with more support though, so if you have some spare time on Tuesday evening, your help and contribution would be greatly appreciated.Next week we ask students to bring an item for the White Elephant – this must be new or near new. Thank you for all your assistance with this crucial fund raiser for the school.

Hawkins Construction have kindly made available tickets for Highlanders games at Forsyth Barr Stadium. The seats are superbly located and you can enjoy pre and after match relaxation via access to the Level 2 and Level 4 hospitality areas. Tickets will be processed on a first come, first served basis. Extra tickets may be available and as such could be a good opportunity for business owners or managers to take their staff or clients out in an affordable way. The price for these tickets is by fair and reasonable donation however we would expect a minimum donation of $25 per ticket. All funds will go to a hardship fund, which enables all students to participate in school camps and sports trips.
The tickets are full lounge access cards and as such will need to be returned to school after the game. The first game is against the Hurricanes on Saturday 5 March at 7.35pm. Please email Joanne at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
News from Tolcarne
The beginning of the year is always super busy up at Tolcarne. We have had 30 new Year 9s who have settled in and nine new boarders in other year groups. Our existing Tolcarne girls have done a fantastic job of making them feel welcome.
This week we had our first “Formal Family’ dinner where all the girls got to meet the rest of their vertical family. These will be a weekly event.
Another exciting event this last week was our quiz evening in our Tribes. Baxter (Purple) were the very clear winner and earned themselves 40 tribe points and an additional 10 for outstanding costumes. Check out a few below.
Our junior girls are all very exited as we are off to Leap Indoor Trampoline Park tonight.
