Weekly News – Term 1 | Week 11

The 2016 Vietnam Group

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

This has been an incredibly busy term – Summer Quad, production auditions, the fair (which seems like an age ago!), but all the events add up to a richly rewarding and exciting school. Thank you for all your support of the girls, learning initiatives and opportunities that take place here. Even though we are heading into the holidays the fun does not stop!

The Vietnam group departed on Tuesday evening and have enjoyed their first couple of days there.  The girls have been on a cyclo tour around the old part of Hanoi and visited a water puppet theatre and are looking forward to the experiences coming up over the next two weeks.

We had a wonderful range of performances at Wednesday’s Arts Assembly.  It is great to see the talent that our girls have and I congratulate all who took part. They showed courage to perform in front of their peers and it was wonderful to see the positive and warm response they received from their appreciative and respectful audience.

The netball Senior A team left today to attend a tournament in Christchurch and we wish them well for this.

Mrs Kruger has resigned from her position as HOD Languages for family reasons. Ms Ruth Allot will be the HOD Languages for the remainder of the year and Ms Sofie Jacobs and Mrs Nikki Holtz will be taking over Mrs Kruger’s classes, although she will be maintaining contact with the school, through the Year 11 French class. We have valued and appreciated Mrs Kruger’s contribution to teaching and learning. She has been a passionate and committed teacher and HOD and I know St Hilda’s will hold a special place in her heart. We wish her all the best for the future.

From the Sports Department

We are aware of the ongoing costs for sports clothing. As a result we are streamlining our sports uniform to include generic sportswear, which can be used across all sports. This change will minimise the cost to parents, while creating a consistent, strong image for St Hilda’s sports teams that we can all be proud of.

The following items of sports apparel are optional, however students are encouraged to purchase the appropriate sports apparel for their individual needs if they are participating in sport at St Hilda’s Collegiate School.

The dri-fit top is a required purchase for all players in a Senior A Team and some Junior A Teams, as indicated by their coaches.

Orders take approximately 3 weeks from the time of order (ETD – beginning of June).

We ask parents to order on their daughter’s behalf. Please click here to order.
