The 2016 Z Club

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Junior students were treated to a Shakespeare Workshop on Wednesday.  The girls spent the morning exploring renaissance dance, reciting sonnets, designing Elizabethan quilt squares, cooking for the shared feast, performing the bard’s words, bringing the plays to film and learning how to  hurl an insult like an Elizabethan.   Staff were more than happy to get in to the spirit of things and dressed in character for the day. This was certainly a great way to celebrate the 400 year anniversary.

Yesterday Z Club members were inducted into the 2016 Z Club.  Already the club have some interesting events planned for the year. Lynette Grave from the Dunedin Zonta Club was on hand for this special occasion.

Year 9 and 10 girls enjoyed their first social of the year at John McGlashan last night.   Of course we can’t forget the Year 12 and 13 students who have been busy spray tanning in preparation for tonight’s formal.  We wish them an enjoyable evening.

Good luck to students involved in the Chamber Music Competition over the weekend as well as the Netball Otago Tournament that takes place over Sunday and Monday.

The 2016 Big Sing Regional Heat is being held next Wednesday.  School choirs perform during the day, with a festival concert held at 7.00pm.  Good luck to the junior choir, the Madrigal choir and Sings Hilda who will be performing at this.

The University of Auckland will be holding a Parent Information Evening on Monday 20 June at Otago Boys High School. They will also have a member of the Accommodation team with them to speak about accommodation options for students in their first year of study and beyond –  registration can be done here.

From the Sports Department

On behalf of the school and Sports Department, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to all coaches, managers, parents and students who have supported the school by encouraging girls to wear the correct sports apparel to and from weekly sports fixtures.

Your assistance with our ongoing efforts in creating a consistent, strong image for St Hilda’s Sports Teams, that we can all be proud of, is greatly appreciated.

Senior B Netball Coach urgently required
Due to unforeseen circumstances we urgently require a coach for our Senior B Netball Team.

Maybe there is someone out there in the community you know or maybe that person is you – a special person who could step into the role of coach for the ‘B’ team playing in the Premier Women’s Grade.

This is a voluntary role and if you would like to discuss this opportunity further, please contact Lana Morrison in the Sports Department.
