Accept the Challenge
This week saw the years 7-9 embark on Challenge week. They were, in groups, tasked with solving a real-world problem. The challenges were:
How can we make our school a place where every single student feels included every single day?
How can we inspire our community to get up and get moving?
How can we inspire our community to make healthy food a bigger part of our daily diet?
How can we get rid of rubbish to make our community shine?
How can we give young people a voice on issues that affect them?
How can we make social media a force for good not evil?
Not only had they as a team, to come up with a solution, but they had to test it out with market research that they constructed, reflect on their process, think about their point of difference and then present it to a judge, using criteria that they co-constructed, and proved that it was viable, sustainable and solved the challenge.
The idea was to get the students to be innovative in their problem solving, test their ideas and refine them in order to make the solution better and work in a team of diverse individuals – all skills that are transferable into the world of work.
The grand final was held period 5 Friday and ended a challenging week for the years 7-9.
Final results will be announced next week.
